Account Manager
Strategic Risk Solutions (Barbados) Ltd. (SRS), a leading independent international insurance management and consulting firm, seeks an Account Manager to provide client relationship management for a portfolio of registered insurance companies, primarily in Barbados.
SRS provides consulting, accounting, and management services to insurance companies, predominantly those licensed as captive insurance companies, in the US, Barbados, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Europe with a staff of 400+ employees and expects to continue to grow and expand domestically and abroad.
Position Description and Requirements
- We require an ambitious and experienced individual with the ability to provide leadership to the insurance, finance, compliance, and administration of various companies registered under the Insurance Act of Barbados.
- The responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating the issuance and maintenance of policies of insurance and/or reinsurance
- Working with the client account team leaders delivering high quality financial and regulatory reports.
- Maintaining and facilitating accounting records and work papers.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries and financial statements for clients.
- Finalizing the preparation of financial statements in accordance with the appropriate GAAP.
- Monitoring and reconciliation of cash and other financial transactions.
- Treasury account management of the client’s cash and investment balances.
- Facilitating claims and loss settlements in accordance with statements prepared by loss adjusters, claims committee and other approved claims personnel.
- Approving billings and payment instructions in accordance with the approved company mandates.
- Maintenance and preparation of quarterly and annual filings with insurance regulators’ office.
- Preparing for client Board of Director meetings.
- Attending client Board of Director meetings (as requested).
- Handling of verbal and written client communications (where applicable).
- Co-ordination of the audit of registered insurance companies under portfolio.
- Providing other services that may reasonably fall within the duties of the account management of a portfolio of insurance clients.
Requirements and Skills:
The candidate should ideally have a Business and finance and finance background in Insurance, and possessing the following attributes:
- Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline;
- Professional certification in insurance or risk management;
- 3+ years’ experience in a similar role in a professional environment;
- Detail-oriented with superb organizational skills and comfortable with routinely shifting demands;
- Must be a self-starter with a proven track record of being a strategic thinker and successful leader;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to build lasting relationships with all levels of employees and being able to lead a team;
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite;
